The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has caught red-handed a Head Constable posted at Raien police station while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from a local resident for giving him a clean chit during the course of investigation in a case registered against him and others.
Suraj, a resident of Fatehpur, had lodged a complaint before the vigilance bureau's office at Dharamsala that a Head Constable Dinesh Kumar posted in the Raien police station had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from him to remove his name in a case registered against him and others. The said policeman was investigation officer in the case registered against the complainant.
Reacting to his complaint, the sleuths of the Vigilance Bureau laid a trap and arrested HC Dinesh Kumar while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from the complainant as first instalment of the bribe amount.
Subsequently, a criminal case under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the said policemen in Vigilance Bureau police station at Dharamsala, stated Balveer Singh SP VB posted, here.
He said that further investigation was in progress.
