Vikramaditya opens Rs 1.13 cr bridge in Thachi
Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh today said in order to prevent delay in road construction, the government has decided to prepare revenue documents of the land required before the construction of all roads to be built in the future.
He sought the cooperation of local panchayat representatives and residents to help in the completion of formalities to ensure that roads were made in the minimum possible time. He addressed a public meeting at Thachi after inaugurating a bridge constructed at a cost of Rs 1.13 crore on Thachi-Rehana road in the Shimla (Rural) Assembly constituency.
“We all must rise above party politics and work with positive thinking when it comes to the development of the area. If you all do this, I assure there will unprecedented development,” he said. He said the responsibility of registering the revenue documents in the name of the Public Works Department would be of the concerned panchayat representatives.
“The delay in completion of any project, including roads, results in cost escalation which is nothing short of wastage of precious government funds,” he added. He said the state government was trying to connect every village with road facility as roads are the lifeline in the hills.
The minister said it was the government’s commitment to work for ensuring uniform and balanced development in every part of the state. In the past two years, Rs 350 crore has been approved for various development works in Shimla (Rural) constituency, he added.
He said under the fourth phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, 1500 km of additional roads will be constructed in the state, which also includes the conversion of unpaved roads into concrete ones.
He said with the inspiration and blessings of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, during these two years, more than Rs 350 crore have been sanctioned for the construction of various development works in the Shimla (Rural) Assembly constituency, most of which were in progress. He said development works worth about Rs 40 crore were underway in Daadgi John, which includes the upgradation of the Shimla-Madhodghat road constructed at a cost of Rs 5.50 crore.
He said an action plan has been prepared for paving the Thachi to Rehana link road and it will be paved in the summer season. He also assured to open a branch of Cooperative Bank, besides a temporary agricultural sales centre, in Thachi.
On this occasion, Panchayat Samiti Chairman (Basantpur Block) Karm Chand, Vice Chairman Prakash Kamal, Panchayat Samiti Chairman (Tutu Block) Saroj Sharma, Chairman Nagar Panchayat (Sunni) Pradeep Sharma, Director APMC Pradeep Verma and others were present.
