Villagers and School Management Committee (SMC) members of Baduhi in Nurpur held a protest today against the sudden transfer of the headmaster and two teachers from the local government high school. Assembled on the school premises, the protesters expressed strong resentment towards the education department, accusing it of leaving students in a lurch.
Leading the protest, SMC president Reeta Devi criticised the decision, stating that the school had consistently delivered excellent matriculation results, including this academic year. She questioned the timing and motive behind the transfers, which came just two months into the current session.
The transferred teachers include those teaching Mathematics and English, both of whom had been posted at the school for the past two years. Parents and SMC members jointly demanded the immediate revocation of the transfer orders, citing the potential disruption to students’ education and the overall academic environment.
With an enrollment of 125 students from classes 6 to 10, the school has seen increased admissions this year due to its reputation for quality education and a disciplined atmosphere. Locals credited the headmaster’s leadership for these improvements and voiced concerns that the school is now without a principal, which may affect its functioning.
