Justice Ajay Mohan Goyal passed the order after perusing the status report filed by the authorities. During the course of hearing, the report of the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) filed before the court was opened. The Additional Chief Secretary’s report was sought at the behest of Vimal Negi’s wife. The government had opposed handing over the report to the applicant that it had not yet seen. So, the report should not be handed over to the applicant at present.

On this, the court said that the decision to hand over the Additional Chief Secretary’s report to the applicant would be taken tomorrow. However, the court ordered that the copies of the status reports presented by the DGP and the SP be given to the complainant and the Advocate General.

After the preliminary hearing of the petition filed by Vimal Negi’s wife Kiran Negi demanding a fair investigation, the respondents were ordered to file a status report. Kiran had filed a petition demanding a fair investigation into her husband’s death case. She was dissatisfied with the SIT’s investigation and requested the High Court to order the handing over of the case to the CBI to ensure a fair probe into the matter.

Vimal Negi’s body was found in the Gobind Sagar Lake in Bilaspur on March 18. He had gone missing and his wife had written a letter to the Chief Minister, levelling serious allegations against senior officers of the Power Corporation.
