Virtual classroom inaugurated at agri varsity

CSK Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University (CSKHPAU) Vice-Chancellor Prof HK Chaudhary inaugurated an ultra-modern virtual classroom facility here today. He said under the prevailing circumstances, it would prove to be a boon for students sitting in the safe environs of their homes. They will no more miss classes and will also attend virtual practicals too, he said.

The Vice-Chancellor said the virtual classroom facility was a part of the New Education Policy which his university intended to make functional from the next academic session. He said the facility offered a multidisciplinary approach as part of which the university could act as an umbrella organisation with which colleges of one or two districts could be affiliated to award degrees by sharing resources and facilities. It will be useful for the tribal area also, he said. He said that initially all constituent colleges would record their best lectures which would be consolidated at ICAR level for uploading on YouTube. He said besides students, the university would utilise the facility for launching several online certificate courses for farmers and other interested clients. He directed scientists to prepare material for online lectures on natural farming, bee-keeping, goat and sheep rearing, mushroom cultivation, seed production, fishery etc. on priority. Prof Chaudhary said the university would also add a language lab with Sanskrit as an important subject.
