Bishop Cotton School, Shimla, celebrated the 74th Independence Day virtually. The residential staff gathered for the flag raising and the national anthem ceremony. The online ceremony included messages from the students about why they love their country and what Independence Day means to them.
Webinars at Shoolini university
The Shoolini School of Hospitality and Hotel Management organised a series of webinars, where eminent speakers from the academia and hospitality sectors participated. Nirmal Kumar, area director, revenue strategy, presented his experience on ‘Revenue management at Anantara hotels’. David Mathews, GM at Oberoi Trident, Bandra Kurla, Mumbai, spoke on ‘Rewriting the rule book for the new normal’ while Shreyas Ladde, hotel manager at Holiday Inn Atrium Singapore, participated in a discussion on the ‘TSF factor – toil, sweat, fun – in a young hotel operations professional’s life’. Global banker Farooq Siddiqi dwelt upon acclimatising to the present and readying oneself for the future.
NSUI demands stay on exams
The NSUI on Monday submitted a copy of the order of the High Court in which the latter had stated that Himachal Pradesh University may not proceed with the examination schedule, to the Vice-Chancellor and the Controller of Examinations. The NSUI demanded that the exams be stayed until further orders of the court. A case regarding the promotion of students is already in the court, which will be heard on August 18. The university has, however, already released the datesheet for the exams, beginning from August 17, for the students of the sixth semester.
