Visit sites, ensure timely redress of public grievances: Industries Minister to officials
The fourth edition of the “Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar” initiative in Sirmaur district was successfully conducted in the gram panchayat of Rajpur under the Paonta Sahib Assembly constituency on Tuesday. The programme was presided over by Industries, Parliamentary Affairs and Labour & Employment Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan.
As many as 75 applications were received from residents of various panchayats during the event, including 51 demands and 24 complaints. Minister Chauhan ensured the on-the-spot resolution of several issues and directed departments concerned to promptly address the remaining requests through appropriate follow-up actions.
Emphasising the government’s commitment to grassroots governance, the minister instructed departmental officers to visit sites personally and ensure timely redress of grievances. He lauded the initiative as a visionary programme launched by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, aimed at resolving people’s problems near their homes, enhancing transparency and improving citizen engagement with the government.
Addressing the gathering, Chauhan highlighted that such outreach initiatives reflect the government’s resolve to reform systems rather than merely enjoy the benefits of power. Despite the setback of damages worth over Rs 10,000 crore during recent natural calamities, the state government extended assistance to the affected using its own resources.
He also noted that the Centre had curtailed financial assistance to Himachal Pradesh, seemingly to slow down the pace of development. Yet, under the leadership of CM Sukhu, the state continues to move steadily on the path of progress.
Chauhan pointed out that recent attempts to destabilise the state government failed, reaffirming the trust the people of Himachal have in the Congress-led administration. This trust was evident when the public once again gave the party a clear mandate under Sukhu’s leadership.
Highlighting welfare schemes, the minister proudly stated that HP has become the first state in the country to offer the highest minimum support price for milk — Rs 51 for cow milk and Rs 61 for buffalo milk — aimed at strengthening farmers’ incomes.
He also spoke about the state’s flagship ‘Mukhyamantri Sukhashray Yojana’, under which the government is supporting the education and care of 5,000 orphaned children, adopted as “Children of the State”.
The programme also featured departmental exhibitions showcasing various government schemes and locally produced goods. The Health Department conducted health check-ups, while the Revenue Department facilitated four property mutations, issued seven certificates and resolved two complaints on-site.
