Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the first cultural night of the International Mahashivratri Mahotsav-2025 in Mandi by lighting the ceremonial lamp last evening. The district administration honoured the Chief Minister with a silk shawl from Dharampur, traditional Himachali cap and a memento.

The highlight of the evening was soulful performances by Sufi singer Lakhwinder Wadali. Known for his powerful renditions, Wadali captivated the crowd with hit songs like “Aaj Sajna Tera Naam Leke Main Suhagan Ho Gayi” and “Tu Maane Ya Na Maane Dildara”. His performance left the audience spellbound despite the drizzle that continued since morning.

Neha Dixit of Indian Idol fame sang various Bollywood songs, adding a touch of glamour to the evening. Other notable performers included local artiste Kishan Verma, who performed traditional Himachali folk music, and playback singer Tanmay Chatterjee, who charmed the crowd with his melodious voice.

The event showcased an array of talent, both local and international. Artistes from Sri Lanka and Thailand performed traditional dances, providing a glimpse into their rich cultural heritages. A total of 31 artistes performed on the first evening, contributing to a lively and diverse cultural display.

Besides musical performances, local young women presented the Mandi Fashion Show, showcasing Himachali traditional attire and highlighting the region’s cultural heritage. The ISKCON group also added a spiritual dimension with their soulful Shiv Bhajan performance.

The audience was also treated with performances by Himachali artistes such as Dheeraj from Solan, who sang songs like “Jai Jai Shiv Shankar” and “Dhol Baaje” while Shimla’s Divya Pandey sang “Raat Baaki, Baat Baaki”. Smriti from Bilaspur and Sweta Singh from the Third Battalion also captivated the audience with their performances.

Besides, Sarvagya from Mandi, Vishal from Nagrota and other local artistes brought the stage alive with their unique acts. The performance of “Bhirti Gatha”, a Himachali folk tale by the Sabrang Kala Manch left the audience spellbound.
