Webinar on viruses organised

A webinar on ‘Viruses: Their Detection through Serological and Molecular Techniques’ was organised by the Department of Microbiology, Shoolini Institute of Life Sciences & Business Management (SILB), Solan, in which Dr Anil Handa, Professor, Department of Plant Pathology, Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, was the guest speaker. Dr Handa gave an overview of viruses, their applications and impact on human life. He threw light on ecological significance of viruses, important aspects related to their transmission.

Webinar on digital screens held

The local government millennium polytechnic recently organised a webinar on “Digital screens and eyes: Side-effects of IT” for its faculty and final-year students. The resource person, Dr Sandeep Mahajan of SM Eye Hospital, Kangra, apprised the students of the ill-effects of long screen time on eyes. He suggested several exercises for strengthening and soothing eyes while working on digital screens. He emphasised on the precautions that students should take while working on mobiles and computers for longer durations.

Hold final-year exams, demands SFI

The SFI on Monday submitted a memorandum to the Controller of Examination demanding that the final year exams of undergraduate classes be held at the earliest. The SFI said the HPU had already invited applications for PG courses but the final-year exams had not been held in colleges yet. It is creating confusion among students and they are not in the right frame of mind to prepare for entrance exams, it stated.
