Mandi, October 19

The Khatri Sabha, Mandi, has launched its website, in which viewers can have a glimpse of its 128-year-old history.

Vinod Behl, member of the Sabha, said “The history of Khatris of Mandi in general and Khatri Sabha in particular is punctuated with glory, industriousness, grit and a ‘never say die’ spirit. The Khatri Sabha, Mandi, as we see it today, is the outcome of the efforts which started after the arrival of Khatris here way back in the early 17th century, which resulted into the formation of Khatri Sabha, Mandi, in 1892.”

“In 1892, Munshi Ramdita presented a booklet ‘Dastur ul Amal’, regarding implementation of ‘Akhrajet shaadi’ and ‘Gami Akivam Khatriyan’, in the court of the 16th Raja Bijai Sen of Mandi. The content of the booklet was considered and a law was implemented for some time but did not get any special success,” he remarked.

“The website is www.Khatrisabhamandi.org, where viewers can find the detailed history of the Khatri Sabha,” Behl added.
