Western Army Commander visits Yol, Palampur
Chandigarh: Lt Gen RP Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, visited Yol Cantonment and Palampur Military Station in Himachal Pradesh to review the operational readiness of the local formations as well as assess the pandemic situation. Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, General Officer Commanding of Yol-based Rising Star Corps, briefed him about the operational as well as administrative aspects of the Corps. He also updated Lt Gen RP Singh about the efforts being undertaken to combat Covid-19. 3 booked for cultivating poppy plants
Chamba: The police on Monday booked three persons for illegally cultivating 170 poppy plants in their fields at Pangluin village in the Masrund area of Chamba district. During the lockdown, a police party led by ASI Raghuvir Singh found opium poppy plants growing in different fields of the accused at Pangluin village. A case under Section 18 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Chamba police station. OC
Patients express gratitude to Corona warriors
Hamirpur: Covid-19 patients, who have been cured and discharged from Radhaswami Charitable Hospital, have expressed their gratitude to coronavirus warriors. They have sent WhatsApp messages and emails to doctors, nurses, supporting staff, sanitary personnel and the team of cooks of the hospital for their services. A patient wrote, “You have not only helped me in fighting the deadly virus, but have also saved my family from disaster”. OC
Outside workers allowed entry into BBN area
Solan: District Magistrate KC Chaman on Tuesday again permitted the entry of industrial workers from other states to the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) and Parwanoo areas on a one-time basis. He said in his order that requests for permission could be filed with the Deputy Director, Industries, at Baddi and the General Manager, District Industries Centre, at Parwanoo. These industrial workers would be screened at the border barriers and they would move as per the route plan approved by the police. They would be housed in pre-identified locations; they should not mix up with other employees. TNS
Covid testing allowed at Mandi college
Mandi: Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College and Hospital, Nerchowk, has got approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the PGI, Chandigarh, to start Covid-19 testing in its laboratory. Dr Rajneesh Pathania, principal of the medical college, said the the college had received an invitation from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation to participate in the phase 2 clinical trial to determine the efficacy of the plasma therapy in the treatment of Covid patients. MLA accused of violating curfew
Kangra: Vikram Sharma Dickie, General Secretary, state Congress Committee, has accused Dehra MLA Hoshiyar Singh of violating lockdown norms and the guidelines of the Union Home Ministry by cutting a cake on the premises of the Baghlamukhi temple at Bankhandi. He said it was the violation of rules as all religious places were shut. He alleged that a video of the event had gone viral on social media. He had approached the SDPO, Dehra, and the SHO, Haripur police station, in this regard but to no avail. Now, he had taken up the matter with SP Vimukut Ranjan. Randhir Singh, SDPO, Dehra, said he had been forwarded a complaint by the SP and an inquiry has been initiated. OC
