THE rain and storm on the night of July 31 caused extensive losses to apple growers in the Rohru and Jubbal areas. A huge amount of fruit dropped from the trees, and several trees were uprooted altogether. The government should look into the matter and offer compensation to the affected orchardists.

MISCREANTS have been breaking liquor bottles on roads. Shards of glass can be found on various stretches of the Chhota Shimla-Kasumpti road. These shards could seriously injure the pedestrians and stray animals. The authorities concerned should take action against such miscreants. —Vidushi, Shimla

Malfunctioning streetlights across Capital

SEVERAL streetlights in various parts of the town are not working properly. Due to this, people have been facing a lot of inconvenience during night.
