What our readers say: Gaushala lying defunct
THE gaushala built at a cost of Rs 18 lakh at Shalera village in Chanaun panchayat of Banjar subdivision has never been put to use and has been lying defunct for the last many years. After construction of the shed of the gaushala, arrangements could not be made for staff and fodder. The gaushalas are being given assistance of Rs 700 per animal and the Animal Husbandry Department gives an amount of about Rs 5 lakh every month to 11 gaushalas of the district. It is perplexing that despite the availability of the resources, the gaushala is lying defunct. —Mukesh, Banjar
Road not built despite laying of foundation stone thrice
THE foundation stone of the 7-km road to connect the villages of Talada and Bhalan panchayat has been laid thrice, but this road has not been completed. Interestingly, while the road is ready on both ends, the work of the middle stretch is still pending. Villagers have themselves completed the process of DPR and clearance from the Ministry of Forest and Environment. Private land was also donated for the road many years ago, but the benefit of the road has not been received yet. The people of over 12 villages are troubled due to the pending road construction work. Puran Chand, Bhalan (Kullu)
