THE iconic colonial structure housing the State Bank of India's main branch near Kali Bari in Shimla is a striking example of neo-Tudor architecture. Once occupied by the Imperial Bank of India in 1924, and later by SBI, this building holds immense historical value for Shimla, the state, and the country. However, its current state is disheartening. Entering from the Railway Board Building side, one is greeted by three large patches of broken plaster on the walls, which leave a poor impression. Considering its heritage significance, the SBI management should act promptly to repair these patches and restore the building's grandeur. —Jawahar Kaul
