Urgent restoration required

T he tile work recently completed on the entrance wall of the Grand Hotel Shimla has started peeling off, revealing the underlying craftsmanship and raising concerns about the quality of the work and the supervision involved. Similarly, the much-discussed replicated iron railing along the front of the 19th-century Bantony Castle is facing the same issues. Officials concerned must make the necessary corrections before it becomes a source of dissatisfaction. —Jawahar Kaul, SHIMLA
