When CM Sukhu reached out to less fortunate sections of society
This spell of winter sojourn to Kangra district by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu shall also be remembered as a visit to personally reach out to the under-privileged, lesser fortunate segment of society, especially school students whom he met out of the way either on their school premises or on road.
The CM, on his way to Jawali and later to Nurpur constituency, never missed a chance to meet youngsters to have a one-to-one interaction with them on their well-being or and also to know about the intellectual health of the education institute they were studying in.
In Dharamsala, the CM had a video conference session to virtually interact with 17 “Children of the state” of Aparajita Bal Ashram, Bilaspur, on an educational and recreational tour. He enquired about their well-being, listening to their experience at the Wagah border and Golden Temple.
After interacting with 351 odd girl students of Government Girls Senior Secondary School (GSSS) in Dharamsala on “Balika Diwas”, he surprised all by announcing a gift of Rs 1,000 to each one of them, probably a first-of-its kind the district has witnessed in recent past.
He was seen reaching out to the public to feel the pulse of the town at ground zero. During an informal evening walk, he interacted with street vendors enquiring about their difficulties. A photo went viral wherein he not only bought fruits from orphan sisters, but also listened to their grievances. Later, the entire group sat gossiping over a cup of tea in the evening.
Himachal Pradesh happens to be the first state in the country to have declared over 6,000 orphans as “Children of the state”. Soon after assuming office, the CM had announced “Mukhyamantri Sukhashraya Yojna” for their benefit across the state.
