Wildlife cages to be installed near airport: DC
A strategy has been formulated to tackle dangers posed by wildlife during take-off and landing of airplanes at Shimla Airport in Jubarhatti.
The issue was discussed at the meeting of the Shimla Airport Environment Management Committee, held here on Friday under the chairmanship of Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap.
The Airport Authority of India (AAI) requested the installation of cages for wildlife near the airport, after which the Deputy Commissioner assured the body that these would be installed after communication with the officials concerned.
Various other aspects of airport security were discussed in detail during the meeting.
Kashyap said air safety was very important for all, and, in this direction, all departmental officers needed to work in coordination with the AAI.
He directed all the departments concerned to establish mutual coordination and take necessary steps in a timely manner to ensure air safety.
He gave directions to the Public Works Department to maintain and widen the airport road so that visitors could get better
transportation facilities.
“Shimla Municipal Corporation’s vehicles will go to the airport two days a week for garbage collection so that garbage does not remain scattered in the area,” he said.
