Shimla residents relieved as Jan Manch resumes

As many as 65 complaints were disposed of on the spot during a Jan Manch programme organised at Kelvi village in Theog subdivision of Shimla district today after a gap of more than nine months. It was presided over by state Vidhan Sabha Speaker Vipin Parmar.
In all, 107 complaints were received. At least 450 persons from seven panchayats and 83 revenue villages participated in the programme. Vipin Parmar said it was the moral duty of officials to look into the problems and complaints of the public and resolve the same.
He appreciated that people wore masks and followed social distancing.
Funds for rural road
Solan: Urban Development, Town and Country Planning, Parliamentary Affairs and Law Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said Jan Manch programmes had been re-started on public demand. Presiding over an event at Bathalang in the Arki subdivision in Solan district, he directed officials to take immediate steps to remove encroachment from government land at Kothi village and settle grievances of Pajina village with Ambuja Cements company by holding a meeting. A sum of Rs 2 lakh was announced for improving a rural road at Lehtana village. Of the 52 complaints received, 35 were settled on the spot. Meanwhile, Power Minister Sukh Ram Chawdhary said a majority of the formalities of the Renuka project had been completed and its inauguration would be done soon. It would produce 40 mega watt power in the first phase. Chawdhary was presiding over a Jan Manch at Tatva Veong village in Sangrah subdivision. As many as 21 complaints pertaining to various departments were settled on the spot.
22 complaints taken up
Una: Industries Minister Bikram Singh Thakur presided over a programme at the Haroli subdivisional headquarters. Only 22 complaints came up for hearing, and most of these were addressed on the spot. Representatives of the Himachal Pradesh Brick Kiln Association complained that brick kiln owners from neighbouring Punjab were illegally crossing the state borders to sell bricks in Himachal. Since the material was without bills, it was causing a huge loss to the hill state.
Besides, he said the brick kiln industry of Himachal was also incurring losses. In his address, Bikram Singh assured the association of looking into the matter. Referring to fewer complaints that came up for hearing, he said it proved that the state government and the administration was performing well in Haroli.
11 panchayats participate
Dharamsala: Residents of 11 panchayats were invited to a Jan Manch programme in the Baijnath area of Kangra district, which was presided over by Minister for Forest Rakesh Pathania. Of 61 grievances, 60 were redressed on the spot.
58 grievances resolved
Hamirpur: As many as 58 grievances were resolved at a Jan Manch event at Loharli. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Rajender Garg, who presided over the programme, said apart from this platform, residents could submit their grievances on the CM helpline number 1100.
Free check-up camp
Mandi: A total of 140 complaints related to development works were received during the Jan Manch at Nagvain in Mandi district. Most of these complaints were settled on the spot.
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Virender Kanwar presided over the Jan Manch programme. A total of 29 certificates were issued and check-up of 70 persons conducted in a free camp.
