Will get up to Rs 5K cr revenue from Una drug park, says Chauhan
Shimla, July 12
The state government will earn around Rs 4,000 crore to 5,000 crore from the bulk drug park coming up at Haroli in Una district as and when it becomes fully functional. “The annual turnover of the park will be around Rs 50,000 crore and the state will earn around 4,000 crore to 5,000 crore. Apart from direct earnings, there will be significant indirect earning for the state from the park,” said Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan here today.
Rs 50K cr turnover
- The annual turnover of the bulk drug park is expected to be around Rs 50,000 crore
- The government has given Rs 32 crore to the Jal Shakti Department to make water available at the park
- The PWD has been given Rs 34 crore for the acquisition of land to widen the single-lane road to two lanes
The state government has received an extension of one year to complete the project. The minister said that last year’s rain disaster in the state had affected the progress of the work on the park. “We have already given Rs 32 crore to the Jal Shakti Department to make water available at the park and around 75 per cent work has already been completed. The PWD has been given Rs 34 crore for the acquisition of land to widen the single-lane road to two lanes. Also, we have opened our head office and appointed some staff there. Considering the importance of the project, all efforts will be made to complete it within the time frame.”
The delay has already escalated the cost of the project. In 2022, the tentative of the project was Rs 1,923 crore, which has now risen to around Rs 2,100 crore to Rs 2,200 crore. The Central Government will invest Rs 1,000 crore in the project and the state government will provide the remaining funds. Given the financial crunch, there is an option to bring in a strategic partner to invest money on behalf of the state. “A high-powered committee headed by the Chief Minister has decided that the state will invest its share of funds through its own resources,” said Chauhan.
At present, a team of the Industries Department is touring Gujarat to study the work on the bulk drug park there and will implement the learning to speed up the work on the project in the state.
