The All India Primary Teachers Federation has threatened to intensify its agitation against the state government if the latter does not agree to the demand of the Himachal Pradesh Primary Teachers Federation not to merge the Department of Education.

While addressing a press conference here today, Ramchander Dabas said that primary teachers of Himachal Pradesh had launched a mass movement against the state government over their 25 demands. These demands are legitimate and the Himachal government should accept them.

He said the state government was harassing teachers by getting FIRs lodged against them and suspending them. Teachers had a democratic right to raise voice for their demands.

“If the state government does not agree to the demands of primary teachers, the members of the All India Primary Teachers Federation would reach Himachal Pradesh and launch a massive mass movement against the government,” he said.

“We do not want to protest but urge the state government should find a solution,” he added.
