Winter carnival tableau to feature in Shimla’s Republic Day celebrations

This year’s state-level Republic Day celebration in Shimla, held at the historic Ridge, will feature tableaux highlighting the Winter Carnival, following its success in 2023 and 2024. The carnival, which lasted 10 days, showcased performances by Bollywood, Punjabi, and Himachali artists, along with food, handicraft stalls, and various attractions.

Shimla Municipal Corporation Mayor Surender Chauhan stated that the inclusion of Winter Carnival tableaux at the Republic Day event was in response to its popularity among locals and tourists. Approximately 25 tableaux from various government departments will be displayed, creatively showcasing government schemes and initiatives, including the Mukhya Mantri Sukh Ashray Yojana, student loans, maize procurement, dairy plants, and traditional practices like making pattals (leaf plates).

These displays will also be made accessible to the public at selected locations on January 26 and 27, raising awareness of these initiatives across Shimla.
