The second edition of Shimla Winter Carnival is set to kick off on Tuesday, promising entertainment and thrill for residents and tourists from across the country.
The 10-day carnival will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at the Ridge. The first night will feature performances from Abhigya Band, followed by India Got Talent Season 9 finalists Crazy Hoppers. Folk singer Rajeev Sharma will also be performing on the inaugural night of the carnival, which will conclude with the performance of Bollywood playback singer Shabab Shabri. Around 13,000 vehicles entered the town in the past two days, including 6,920 vehicles on Sunday and 6,130 vehicles on Monday.
As many as 300 police personnel and around 80 Home Guard jawans have been deployed to maintain law and order and ensure security in the town. The CM has urged the visitors to enjoy this carnival and expressed hope that the event will be a grand success like last year.
It has also been decided to keep all the shops and commercial establishments open round the clock from December 23 to January 5.
HRTC’s special arrangements
To facilitate smooth transportation during the carnival, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has decided to ply buses and tempo travellers till 10.30 pm.
The facility will be available for the people near CTO, at Lakkar Bazaar for Totu, Summerhill, Chakkar, etc. At least six tempo travellers will be made available for the people en route to Sanjauli till 10.00 pm.
