Winter Carnival to offer insights into our culture: CM
The Shimla Winter Carnival took off yesterday with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu being the chief guest, who was honoured by Mayor Surinder Chauhan. The event featured a mesmerising performance by Satinder Sartaj, who enthralled the audience with sufi songs.
The Winter Carnival, which was scheduled to be held from December 24 to January 2, had to be postponed due to the demise of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
Extending new year greetings, the Chief Minister said the Winter Carnival was being organised to offer a glimpse into Himachal’s rich, culture, traditions and cuisine to the tourists. He said due to the demise of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, the event was postponed and will now be held till January 8.
He emphasised the government’s efforts to promote and strengthen tourism as it is a significant contributor to state’s economy.
