A female employee of a career academy here filed a complaint at the Women’s Police Station, alleging misconduct by the academy owner.
The incident reportedly occurred on January 14 at around 11 am.
According to the complaint, the owner, Manoj Rathi, asked the employee to meet him outside the workplace, citing the need to visit the office for work. However, on entering his car, the complainant alleged that Rathi took a different route, driving towards an isolated area near the Shimla road instead of the office.
The complainant further stated that Rathi exhibited inappropriate behaviour towards her and repeatedly pressured her to consume alcohol. Sensing danger, she discreetly sent her live location and messages to a friend and contacted her mother on the pretext of making a phone call. She eventually managed to return home safely and informed her family about the ordeal.
The employee lodged a formal complaint on January 15, prompting the police to register a case under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita. The Women’s Police station in Nahan is now handling the investigation.
A notice has been issued to Rathi, requiring his cooperation in the inquiry. Police officials have warned that non-compliance with the notice could result in his arrest.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Sirmaur, Yogesh Rolta, stated that the investigation was being prioritised to ensure justice in the matter.
