Woman dies, two hurt in car mishap

A 62-year-old woman was killed while two others were injured when the car they were travelling in met with an accident and rolled off the road near Banera in Chamba district today.

Monika Bhutunguru, Superintendent of Police, Chamba, said that the occupants of the car were going towards the Bhalei temple from Sihunta.

Bhutunguru said that at the time of the accident, local people reached the site and brought the three persons to the district hospital where the woman, identified as Champa Devi, was declared brought dead by the doctor.

The two injured identified as Arvind Thakur (29) and driver Nitish Thakur (26) were admitted to the district hospital. All of them belong to Sihunta, he added. The accident reportedly happened due to the negligence of the driver. A case had been registered.

Tipper driver killed

Dalhousie: A tipper driver was killed when his vehicle fell into a deep gorge near Gutdi (Karelnu) in Chamba district today. The deceased was identified as Rakesh Kumar. The body has been shifted to the Dalhousie Civil Hospital for postmortem.
