Woman found dead in drain in Kangra village

The remains were sent to the Dehra Civil Hospital for postmortem and further investigation into the cause of death has been initiated

A tragic incident was reported in Aluha Aghar village of Khundiyan tehsil, under Jawalamukhi subdivision in Kangra district, where a 55-year-old woman was found dead. The police confirmed on Wednesday that the deceased, Kaushalya Devi, wife of Ajit Kumar, had gone out with a sickle to cut grass for cattle but did not return home. When she failed to come back, her family and villagers began searching for her. The next day, residents discovered her lying face down in a drain near the village. She was already dead by the time she was found.

The local residents immediately alerted the police. Khundiyan SHO Poonam said a team reached the spot, recorded statements of family members and locals and took custody of the body. The remains were sent to the Dehra Civil Hospital for postmortem and further investigation into the cause of death has been initiated.
