Solan, October 28
Ritika Jindal, a woman IAS officer, had little imagined that her simple act of attending a yajna at Goddess Shoolini temple on Ashtami last Saturday would open a pandora’s box of trouble for her.
She was posted as tehsildar and temple officer at Solan and she went to oversee arrangements at Goddess Shoolini temple. She, however, has been trolled on social media for participating in the yajna at the temple and she is feeling traumatised. Ritika was not available for comments.
As if this was not enough, she was called to record her statement for an inquiry late last evening from Nalagarh where she had joined duty on Monday.
Initially, she was directed to come to the temple and later to the house of an officer and finally to his office before a senior officer intervened to defer the inquiry till morning, said sources.
Solan Deputy Commissioner KC Chaman said that no inquiry was being conducted into the incident.
“It was a simple act of performing a yajna and it is unfortunate that the issue has been blown out of proportion. She is being trolled on social media due to miscommunication for which she has been counselled. I have also told her not to feel depressed about the incident,” he added.
He said, “The issue has been defused and even her security concerns are being addressed. Himachal is a peaceful state, and there is no threat to anyone but as a precaution, her safety has been ensured”.
