International Women’s Day was celebrated in the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP). On this occasion, all the teaching and non-teaching employees of Dharamsala campus were honoured. The programme titled “Love and Gratitude” was organised by the Dean Student Welfare and Sustainability Club in collaboration with Curiosity Club and Cultural Club (HPKV) and Sparsh Apex Committee. Dean Student Welfare Prof Sunil Thakur was present as the chief guest in this event.

On this occasion, Dr Manpreet Arora welcomed everyone and thanked the chief guest for participating in this programme. She said this was the first occasion where the teaching and non-teaching women staff of the university is present which according to her is a matter of pride.

The chief guest said women are not inferior to men in any field. “They have made equal contribution whether it be the field of education, politics or government office, women play a vital role. They manage their office work along with their family very well. Be it their maternal home, in-laws’ house or office, their contribution is commendable. The Central University also has women faculty members and non-teaching staff, who are handling work equally with everyone,” he added.

On the other hand, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Sat Prakash Bansal has congratulated the Dean Student Welfare and women faculty members of HPKV for this event. He said efforts will be made to organise such events in future as well.
