Women must get equal opportunities: Jai Ram
Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur today said that the Central Government was committed to women empowerment and had launched many schemes for their welfare.
Thakur, while participating in a programne organised by the BJP Mahila Morcha here on the occasion of International Women’s Day, said, “Women are excelling in every field and in educational institutions, I see girls are the toppers and win the maximum medals and trophies,” he added.
He said that during his tenure as Chief Minister, the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme was launched to give equal opportunities to daughters and it was being replicated across the country. He added that the fact that the President, Union Finance Minister and other Union Ministers were women was a symbol of women empowerment.
Thakur said, “Women are excelling in every field due to their hard work, dedication and sincerity towards their duties. Even today, some people do not feel happy at the birth of a girl child which is not right, though the mindset of society has undergone a tremendous change.”
The former Chief Minister emphasised that daughters should get equal opportunities in every field like available to boys. Thakur said that many schemes like the Grihini Suraksha Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Ek Boota Beti Ke Naam, Shagun and the Kanyadan Yojana were launched for the welfare of women.
