Women of Dodra Kwar rally against rising drug menace
Over 100 women from Dhandarwari Panchayat in the remote Dodra Kwar area of Shimla district organised a rally against drug abuse, demanding strict action from the administration. The rally aimed to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drugs while issuing a strong warning to drug addicts and traffickers.
Starting from the Kwar Helipad, the rally passed through Dhandarwari and Chaidar before concluding at the subdivisional headquarters in Dodra Kwar. The police and administrative staff also joined the march. Upon reaching the headquarters, the women submitted a memorandum to Dodra Kwar SDM Dharmesh Kumar Ramtora urging stringent measures against drug-related activities.
Addressing the gathering, the Ramtora SDM assured that the administration was committed to making the region drug-free. He emphasised the importance of public participation in anti-drug campaigns and urged people to pass resolutions in the upcoming Gram Sabha against drug users and traffickers, suggesting that they be denied government benefits. He also encouraged locals to report drug-related activities to authorities for swift legal action. The rally highlighted the growing concern over drug abuse in the area and reinforced the collective resolve to combat the issue through community action and administrative support.
