Students of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) and nearby schools and colleges were encouraged to take up entrepreneurship during a workshop on Women Entrepreneurship organised by the university’s Institute of Vocational Studies.
The aim of the workshop was to foster entrepreneurial thinking, leadership qualities and self-reliance among young women. Held under the guidance of Prof JS Dhiman, Dean (Planning and Teachers’ Matters), the session provided students with information on financial assistance, MSME support schemes and successful women-led enterprise models in the state.
Major Dr Ritu Kalra (retd) delivered the keynote address on leadership, self-confidence and resilience, urging participants to overcome challenges and view entrepreneurship as a promising career.
Tanuja Dhanta, president of the Homestay Association of Himachal Pradesh, shared insights into the homestay business model and community-based tourism.
K Shailesh Singh, Assistant Director (MSME), Solan, conducted a session on government schemes, financial support systems and the various opportunities available for budding entrepreneurs through MSME initiatives. The workshop also featured interactive activities.
