Women trained in textile, cushion making

25 women from each panchayat received hands-on training
Women in Mahadev and Chambhi panchayats in Mandi were trained in textile and cushion making.

The National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), Mandi, in collaboration with NABARD, provided free training and tailoring kits to women from self-help groups in Mahadev and Chambhi panchayats, Sundernagar in Mandi district yesterday. The training programme concluded with a ceremony attended by NABARD District Development Manager Rakesh Verma and NSIC Manager Lokesh Bhatia.

Over the course of a month, 25 women from each panchayat received instructions in textile and cushion making. The training included hands-on experience in creating various types of garments and cushions.

During the closing event, a small exhibition showcased the women’s creations, impressing Rakesh Verma, who encouraged them to pursue self-employment and self-reliance. Verma also informed attendees about NABARD’s schemes for self-help groups.

Lokesh Bhatia provided insights into entrepreneurship and government initiatives for establishing businesses. Additionally, Rural Bank Manager Ankush Bhatia offered advice related to banking to the participants. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates by Rakesh Verma. The event was also attended by NSIC Project Coordinator Vinay Kumar, trainer Pushpa, and group representatives Nirmala and Hansa.
