Women’s Day celebrated in Ghumarwin college
The International Women’s Day was celebrated at the girls’ hostel at Swami Vivekanand Government College, Ghumarwin. Principal Vasundhra Rajan Bhardwaj was the chief guest on the occasion. A cultural programme was also organised and four specially abled girls — Anjana, Nisha, Poonam and Veena — sang a song. Students were sensitised on the symptoms of coronavirus and its precautions through a skit.
SFI submits memo to HPU VC
The HPU campus unit of the SFI on Wednesday said the SFI had been pressing for their demands of opening hostel gate, common room and cafeteria by holding protests and submitting memorandums. Campus unit president and secretary Ravinder and Gaurav, respectively, who submitted a memorandum to Vice Chancellor Prof Sikander Kumar in this regard said while the library is open 24 hours, the gates of boys’ hostels are closed at 10 pm. Activists demanded that the decision of fee hike at the ICDEOL be taken back.
Awareness on coronavirus
Teachers and students of St. Thomas School in Shimla were apprised of symptoms of coronavirus and precautionary measures that can be taken. Pamphlets with information about the virus were distributed among the students. The teachers asked the students to wash their hands regularly, cover their faces with masks when in public places and maintain distance from people who are unwell.
ABVP protests degree scam
ABVP activists on Wednesday lodged their protest against the fake degree scam in most colleges and demanded that privitisation in education should be stopped. They said the ABVP had been opposing opening of private university in the state. District convener of ABVP Sachin said such malpractices in education sector would not be tolerated.
