A Full Court Welcome Address was held today in the High Court to welcome Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia who sworn in as the 30th Chief Justice of High Court of Himachal Pradesh yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Justice Sandhawalia said his door was open to redress grievances of all without any discrimination. In his welcome address, Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan said it was a matter of great privilege and honour to welcome Justice Sandhawalia, who has been given the responsibility to head the high court in the hill state of Himachal.
He added that Justice Sandhawalia, who is always acknowledged for his intelligence, integrity and hard work, has delivered a number of landmark judgments.
Justice Chauhan assured the Chief Justice, an unflinching support on behalf of other Judges and entire judicial fraternity.
Anup Kumar Rattan, Advocate General of the state government, welcomed the Chief Justice and said the high court would be enriched by the vast and varied experience of the Chief Justice. Lovneesh Kanwar, Chairman of the HP Bar Council; Peeyush Verma, president of HP High Court Bar Association; and Balram Sharma, Deputy Solicitor General of India for High Court of Himachal Pradesh also spoke on the occasion.
Judges Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Justice Ajay Mohan Goel, Justice Sandeep Sharma, Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua, Justice Satyen Vaidya, Justice Sushil Kukreja, Justice Virender Singh, Justice Bipin Chander Negi and Justice Rakesh Kainthla were also present on the occasion.
The Registrar General, Bhupesh Sharma, conducted the proceedings. Former Judges of the HP High Court, senior advocates and staff members were also present on the occasion.
