The Aima panchayat today refused to lift garbage from Bundla panchayat and send it for treatment to its garbage treatment plant. It has come as a major setback for the residents of Bundla, where a door-to-door collection of garbage campaign was launched on Monday.
The Bundla panchayat has no waste treatment plant of its own.
Pradhan of Aima panchayat Anish Nag in a press statement issued here today said his panchayat had already signed an MoU with the Palampur Municipal Council for the lifting of garbage, which would expire on March 31.
He said the Aima panchayat had not signed any MoU with Bundla panchayat to date. Therefore, the authorities concerned could not be forced to lift the garbage. He further alleged that the pradhan of Bundla panchayat had made an announcement to this effect without taking him into confidence.
