Students of Auckland House School for Boys captivated visitors as the school hosted its annual exhibition, ‘World Within Words’, celebrating literature, creativity and imagination.
Audiences were enthralled by student performances of timeless tales including ‘The Thirsty Crow’, ‘Humpty Dumpty’, ‘King Midas’ Golden Touch’, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Gulliver’s Travels’. A puppet show based on ‘Tenalirama’ showcased the wit and wisdom of folklore, while adaptations of ‘Malgudi Days’ demonstrated how screen versions can bring literary works closer to the masses.
Comic strips inspired by ‘Harry Potter’, performances from ‘The Diary of a Young Girl’ and ‘Letters from War’ and portrayals of mythological characters such as Medusa added layers of depth — highlighting themes of humanity, existentialism and the futility of conflict. A powerful scene from the ‘Ramayana’s’ Ashok Vatika brought students closer to their cultural roots.
Dioramas on display drew admiration for their detailed and imaginative execution, while interactive segments such as the puzzle corner, story sequence challenge and author-work match ensured that learning and fun went hand in hand. The chief guest, SN Joshi, lauded the efforts of students and teachers, calling the exhibition “a journey into a wonderland of imagination and not just a regular display.”
