Workers’ board chair pushes for more cess

Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (HPBOCW), Nardev Singh, said here today that the board’s web portal will be developed to foster transparency and efficiency in cess collection from the various government and private organisations of the state.

He said more cess was needed from private establishments to ensure building and other construction workers received the benefits they deserved. “The funds are mobilised for skill development, education for children and financial assistance in accidents and health incidents,” he said. He urged officers to enhance the cess collection to Rs 300 crore during the fiscal.

Kanwar directed labour officers to ensure collection from different organisations, including private builders, petrol pump stations, hotels, factories, private educational institutions and shopping malls, etc.
