In a bid to promote global competencies among students and encourage insightful use of educational technology, a workshop was organised at PM Shri Government Model Senior Secondary School, Gangath, in Indora subdivision on Friday. Mohan Sharma, a noted mathematician and Principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Indora, participated as the resource person in the session.
As many as 150 students from Classes 9 to 12 participated in the workshop, which focused on making mathematics more engaging, fostering global awareness and providing students an exposure to international school practices.
Sharma shared his classroom experiences from Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Programme in the USA and his educational visit in Singapore with the students. He highlighted various classroom practices from the American Hoggard High School of Wilmington in North Carolina and debated that the technology and global exchange initiatives could enrich student learning skills.
The academician emphasised the significance of creative and competent use of digital tools in the classrooms. Through an interactive ‘’Question & Answer’ session, he also addressed students queries and shared foresights. As a token of encouragement, he gifted participants general knowledge books, notebooks and pens. The session was also attended by faculty members of the school. Sharma exhorted the students to think globally and use technology prudently and cautiously in their educational journey.
Mohan Sharma has 27 years of experience in teaching mathematics and honed his skills as a key resource person through the NCERT, Delhi. He has also contributed at the national-level academic initiatives of the NCERT, including content development for school education. He was selected as a national member of the Mathematics Syllabi Review Committee in 2022 and undertook a comparative analysis of the secondary stage mathematics curriculum of India with that of the US, Russia and Japan.
