Yamuna Sharad Mahotsav to be held in Paonta Sahib from October 14 to 16
The highly anticipated Yamuna Sharad Mahotsav is set to be held in Paonta Sahib from October 14 to 16. Paonta Sahib Subdivisional Magistrate (SDM) Gunjit Singh Cheema announced that the festival will be organised in a grand and traditional manner. The announcement was made during a meeting held at the SDM’s office in Paonta Sahib. Discussions were also conducted regarding the event’s preparations during the meeting.
The meeting, chaired by SDM Cheema, was attended by various officials from different departments and local dignitaries. It aimed to ensure the smooth organisation of the festival, which has become a prominent cultural event in the region. Several committees were also formed during the meeting to manage different aspects of the festival’s arrangements.
According to SDM Cheema, the event will feature cultural performances by various artists, which will be the highlight of the event. In addition to the cultural programmes, there will be sports competitions that will engage participants and spectators alike.
Various government departments will also organise exhibitions during the festival, showcasing their contributions to the region. The exhibitions are expected to draw significant attention and provide valuable information to the attendees. A special feature of the festival will be the exhibitions by members of self-help groups, who will showcase and sell local products. This initiative is designed to provide women with an opportunity to promote and sell their products on a larger platform, helping them gain exposure and market access.
In keeping with the traditional spirit of the festival, the Yamuna Sharad Mahotsav will also include a ‘jalabhishek’ (water offering) and ‘kalash yatra’ (pot procession), both of which hold great religious significance. These rituals will honour the Yamuna River and add a sacred touch to the celebrations.
Additionally, a souvenir will be launched to commemorate the event and make it a memorable occasion for participants and visitors.
The meeting was attended by several notable figures, including chairperson of Paonta Sahib Nagar Parishad, other officials and staff from various departments.
