A yellow alert for heavy rain or snowfall, cold day conditions, thunderstorm with lightning at isolated places has been issued for tomorrow. Heavy rainfall at isolated places in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts is also likely over the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the weather department has already issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain, snowfall from February 26 to 28 in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts. A fairly widespread rainfall or snowfall activity, accompanied by a thunderstorm and lightning, is likely to commence in the state Tuesday midnight till the noon of March 1. During this period, spells of light to moderate snowfall are also likely at many places in Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur districts and in the higher reaches of Kangra, Chamba, Shimla, Kullu, Mandi and Sirmaur districts.
The department has warned of disruption in essential services, slippery roads and low visibility during this period. Meanwhile, light precipitation occurred at isolated places in the state during the past 24 hours.
