Yellow alert issued, heavy rain likely across state till August 21

As many as 95 roads remain blocked across the state while 47 distribution transformers and 35 water supply schemes remained disrupted due to the damage done by heavy rainfall.

As per the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, 33 roads in Kullu and 23 roads each in Mandi and Shimla districts are blocked this disrupting traffic movement in these districts. Similarly, 10 roads in Kangra, two each in Kinnaur and Chamba and one road each in Una and Hamirpur districts remain blocked.

As many as 29 distribution transformers remain disrupted in Shimla, highest in the state followed by six in Kullu, five in Kinnaur, three in Chamba and two each in Kangra and Mandi districts. Furthermore, total 19 water supply schemes remains disrupted in Kullu, 11 in Shimla and and five in Bilaspur district.

As per the state’s Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is likely to continue in isolated parts of the state till August 21 as the department has issued yellow weather warning for several districts till August 21. For Monday, yellow weather warning has been issued for Una, Kangra and Sirmour districts, resulting in heavy rainfall in isolated areas. Also, yellow weather warning has been issued for Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Shimla, Solan and Sirmour for August 20 and for Una and Bilaspur districts for August 21.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall occured at isolated places of the state with Berthin village in Bilaspur district receiving 40.5 mm rain, highest in the state. Dharamsala received 27 mm rain while Shimla received 10 mm rain.

Maximum temperature in Shimla was 24°C while in Dharamsala it was 29.4°C. Similarly, maximum temperature in Manali was 27.7°C, Solan 30°C, Bilaspur 34.3°C, Hamirpur 31.9°C, Kangra 32°C, Nahan 28.7°C, Kasauli 24.6°C, Kufri 22.5°C, Reckong Peo 32°C and Narkanda 22.1°C.

With 34.9°C maximum temperature, Dhaula Kuan in Sirmour district was the hottest place in the state while Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest as it recorded 9.8°C minimum temperature.
