Continuing efforts against drug peddling and narcotics trade, the Chamba Police last evening apprehended a youngster with 2.13-kg charas on the Chamba-Tissa route near Gununala. The accused has been identified as Vicky, a resident of Bhaluni village in Churah tehsil. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the suspect at Chamba police station.Chamba Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav said a police team had set up a checkpoint at Gununala and was conducting routine checking of vehicles. During this, cops stopped a private bus. While inspecting the bus, officers noticed a passenger behaving suspiciously and appearing extremely nervous. Upon further questioning, the individual's anxiety heightened, prompting the police to search him. During the checking, cops found 2.134-kg charas from his possession. The police arrested the suspect. Yadav emphasised the district police's commitment to cracking down on illegal drug trafficking activities in Chamba.
