Youth booked for doing bike stunts on Solan highway
Performing stunts on motorcycle proved dear to a Shimla youth who was booked by the Solan police for rash and negligent driving at Shamlech on the Solan-Shimla National Highway last evening.
The youth’s perilous antics caught the attention of the in-charge of Cyber Cell, Solan, during the routine monitoring of unlawful activities on social media platforms. On February 25, he saw a reel uploaded by the youth on his Facebook account.
The youth was seen performing dangerous stunts while riding his motorcycle (HP-10C-0448) at Shamlech tunnel on National Highway-5 near Solan.
Besides putting his life at risk, the act also endangered the lives of other motorists and pedestrians. A case was registered against him under Sections 281, 125 of the BNS for rash and negligent driving on public road that endangers the safety of others.
The youth has been identified as Manjul, a resident of Dhadi Gunsa village in Jubbal tehsil of Shimla district. An investigation revealed that he had been habitually indulging in such dangerous stunts on his motorcycle, besides allegedly instigating other youths to emulate him. He had uploaded one such video on his Facebook account on February 24.
“In a bid to ensure safe driving the Solan Police appeal to all drivers, especially two-wheeler riders, not to indulge in such a mischief as it can put their life at risk. The youths should not get influenced by others and always wear a safety helmet while riding two-wheeler,” said Solan SP Gaurav Singh.
