Youth held for killing mother in Kangra
Was injured after her son kicked her when he was quarrelling with his father
The police have arrested a youth for killing his mother at Karnaghat village in the Lambagaon area of Kangra district. Anjana Devi (55) sustained injuries while trying to intervene in a family dispute on October 1. She was admitted to Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital, Tanda, in a serious condition. However, after battling for life for many days, she died.
The police arrested her son Deep Raj (30) and registered a criminal case of murder against him at Lambagaon police station.
According to the police, Harnam Singh, a resident of Karnaghat, picked up a quarrell with his son Deep Raj on the night of October 1 over some issue. Harnam’s wife, Anjana Devi, tried to mediate but Deep Raj allegedly kicked her, seriously injuring her. She was first taken to the Jaisinghpur Hospital and from there was referred to the Tanda medical college, as her condition deteriorated, the police said.
Harnam lodged a complaint against his son, following which the police registered a case of assault. However, Anjana Devi died while undergoing treatment at the Tanda hospital.
The SHO, Lambagaon police station, Kuldeep Singh, told mediapersons that after the post-mortem report from the Tanda medical college received on Monday confirmed that the woman succumbed to her injuries, the police added murder charges to the case and arrested Deep Raj.
