The Solan police have arrested three youths after they were found checking vehicles, posing as CBI officials, at Shalughat in Arki.
A complaint was got registered by Rohit Kumar, a resident of Arki tehsil last evening. He said on July 14, when he was going to Kharsi to refuel his car, he came across a car, bearing a red beacon, parked near the temple gate at Shalughat. Two persons standing next to the car, were checking vehicles while posing as CBI officials.
“Upon receiving information, the police identified the miscreants on the basis of the car’s registration number, and arrested three occupants — vehicle owner Manoj Kumar (28), Vinod Kumar (29) and Naresh Kumar (52), alias Bhura. They hail from Darobad village in Bilaspur district,” said Solan SP Gaurav Singh.
The accused told the police that they had come to Shalughat temple to pay obeisance. They later hatched a plan to pose as CBI officials and inspect vehicles on July 14.
Naresh Kumar sat in a car, posing as a DSP (CBI), while Manoj and Vinod started stopping vehicles passing through the area. However, commuters got suspicious and gathered on the spot, forcing the accused to flee.
