Forty-one meritorious students were felicitated with Rajya Yuva Vigyan Puraskar today on the occasion of National Science Day at Gaiety Theatre.

This event was organised by the HP Council For Science, Technology and Environment (HIMCOSTE). During the event, top 10 students, who topped Class XII exams (science stream) of the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) in the year 2023, were conferred with this award.

In the year 2018, the state government had started a scholarship scheme known as ‘Rajya Yuva Vigyan Puraskar Yojna’ for top 10 meritorious students of Class XII in order to motivate and encourage the students to take interest in science.

State toppers Ojaswini Upmanyu, student of Government Senior Secondary School, Ghanari (Una), who had secured 98.6% marks in the year 2023; Kanupriya, student of Government Senior Secondary School, Chururu (Una), who had secured 98.2% marks; Arnav, student of Government Senior Secondary School, Houri Devi (Kangra), and Arshdeep Chaudhary, student of Government Senior Secondary School, Dhusara (Una); were amongst the students who were conferred with the Rajya Yuva Vigyan award.

The topper was awarded Rs 1,00,000 while those finishing lower on the list were given sums incrementally decreasing by Rs 10,000, with the 10th-place holder receiving Rs 10,000.
