The inauguration of the programme was presided over by Principal Surendra Kumar Tiwari, who emphasised the importance of holistic development for students, a core objective of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

In his address, Tiwari said connecting students with their cultural roots was an essential component of their development. To this end, the samiti was organising monthly training programmes in singing, instrumental music, dance, art, drama and other cultural activities at selected JNVs at the divisional level each year, he added.

The ‘Yuva Vrindgaan’ programme at JNV, Nahan, which commenced today, is part of this initiative, aiming to provide students with comprehensive training in group singing.

The programme will be led by cultural practitioner Kuldeep Guleria from Mandi, who will serve as the chief coordinator. He will be assisted by artistes Kirnesh Pundeer from Sirmaur and Jaiprakash from Shimla, under the supervision of the school’s music teacher, Indrajeet Singh.

Guleria said, “Culture unites, never divides. Folk culture resides in the hearts and souls of people, and music is the most profound language of humanity. Music is also a path to spiritual and mental peace, an essential component of any auspicious occasion. Therefore, workshops like this are crucial for the intellectual and mental development of students.”

The event also featured a cultural performance. The stage was managed by Sneha, a student of Class XI, while Ayushika and her classmates from Class VIII presented a welcome song, Khili Kyun Kali Kali, Mehki Kyun Gali Gali, accompanied by instrumental support from students of classes VII and XI, including Sarthak Chauhan and Vaibhav Dutt.
