Korea-India Business Forum Promotes Economic Growth and Strategic Collaboration
The Korea-India Business Partnership Forum, held on November 22, 2024, in New Delhi, commemorated the 51st anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and India. Over 600 participants, including business executives, government officials, and key figures from both countries, gathered to explore new opportunities for collaboration in manufacturing, construction, finance, and other key sectors.
Co-hosted by Herald Media Group, the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the forum aimed to enhance economic cooperation between India and Korea. Herald Media Group Chairman Jung Won-ju, in his opening speech, outlined India’s goal to become the world’s third-largest economy within the next decade. He emphasized that there are infinite opportunities for cooperation between the two nations, particularly in sectors such as manufacturing and financial investments.
The forum also marked the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Herald Media Group and India’s FISME, which aims to establish a framework for cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in both countries. This collaboration is expected to drive innovation, trade, and economic development.
Several industry leaders shared their perspectives during the forum, including Chun Sang-pil from Samsung Electronics and Tarun Garg from Hyundai Motor India. They discussed the evolving business landscape in India and how their companies have leveraged India’s vast market to achieve growth. Similarly, Shrinivas Khanolkar of Mirae Asset spoke about investment opportunities in India, particularly in the financial sector.
The forum coincided with the Korea-India Industrial Exhibition (KoINDEX), which attracted more than 100,000 participants. The exhibition showcased the strengths of both countries in various industries, from manufacturing to infrastructure, further cementing the growing economic ties between India and Korea.
The event concluded with the presentation of awards to individuals such as Anushka Sen for her role in fostering cultural exchange between the two nations. Her recognition underscored the importance of cultural collaboration alongside business partnerships.
