PM Modi lays foundation stone for Mega Floating Solar Power Plant being executed by HARTEK


National, March 04, 2024- Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone for North India's largest floating solar power plant, by Hartek Solar, Power and Renewable Infrastructure unit of Hartek Group. The project stands as a testament to India's commitment to combat climate change by adopting innovative solutions in the energy sector. With a capacity of 15MW/22MWp, SJVN’s floating solar power plant is located at Nangal Pond, Himachal Pradesh is poised to provide clean energy to a significant portion of North India, contributing to the nation's renewable energy goals and reducing carbon emissions.

 

The project, valued at 90 Cr is India's first downstream solar installation on the Bhakra-Nangal Dam saving close to 657795 tonnes of CO2 emissions and producing over 33 Mn units of power output per year, showcasing Hartek Solar's pioneering spirit in exploring innovative avenues for solar energy deployment. Leveraging its expertise in solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), Hartek Solar is successfully executing the project within the stipulated timeframe, adhering to the highest quality and safety standards.

 

Mr. Simarpreet Singh, the Group Executive Director of Hartek Group, expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for virtually inaugurating the floating solar power plant marking a significant milestone in India's renewable energy journey. He also thanked SJVN Green for showing faith in HARTEK’s execution capabilities. He highlighted the project's importance in harnessing solar energy potential in water bodies and maximizing land utilization. We are focused on developing renewable energy to emerge as a major contributor in achieving the Government’s vision to generate more than 500 GW of Energy by 2030 from non-fossil sources.”

 

The floating solar power plant at Bhakra-Nangal Reservoir exemplifies the synergy between technology, innovation, and sustainability, setting a precedent for future solar projects in India. Hartek Solar remains committed to advancing renewable energy solutions and contributing towards India's ambitious goals of achieving energy security and environmental sustainability.
