10,000 special guests for Republic Day parade
In line with the objective to increase public participation at events of national importance, 10,000 special guests have been invited to witness the 76th Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path in New Delhi on January 26.
The invitees are from diverse backgrounds, include best performers in various fields and those who have made best use of the government schemes. Some of the categories of special guests include village sarpanches, disaster relief workers, people from vibrant villages, primary agriculture credit (PAC) societies, forest and wildlife conservation volunteers and workers, handloom artisans, tribal beneficiaries of various schemes, paralympic contingent and winners of international sports events, farmers, anganwadi workers and road construction workers.
Sarpanches whose villages have achieved targets in selected government initiatives and panchayats which have achieved targets in at least six flagship schemes have been invited as special guests. A national-level competition has been announced by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances among panchayats.
Some of the invited guests are carrying out exemplary work to ensure income & employment generation and environment protection through self-help groups (SHGs), which are working in areas of food, nutrition, health, water sanitation and hygiene, panchayati raj institutions, etc.
